Cargo Container Design for [The Hatchery]

something [the hatchery]  needs is more space!  so i have been researching cargo container design and it is awesome.  using cargo containers is a cheap, simple, maneuverable way to create space.  with the tall ceilings on the first floor, i feel that two cargo containers could be stacked on top of each other to create another level for space.  i would like to use these spaces for display / retail / consultation.

the two photos above were my inspiration for this idea.  these were both designed by Clive Wilkinson Architects.

the rest of the photos below are some i found while doing my research.

i now want to live in a cargo container!

where i am in the design for [the hatchery]

My current concept for The Hatchery [emerge]. When the client, consumer or guest enters The Hatchery I want them to be immersed in the arts and services that will be provided there. The feeling will be industrial and organic like an art studio. I want to have many reveals and special moments to emerge it to sight for the people traveling through the space. I want to work with opening up the space and the levels within the space to better express my concept, allow for light to better enter from the exterior, and allow for the spaces within The Hatchery to become multifunctional to allow growth.

* all definitions from dictionary.com

through completing this step, i notice that [emerge] and [breakthrough] are a lot alike, so i am going to drop the concept of breakthrough and go with [emerge].  i am not feeling the word [embark] is strong enough to use as a concept for this design so i am going to drop it as well.  for my next step i am going to go deeper in my exploration of the vocab [emerge], [extract], and [support].

step one : for my design of [The Hatchery]

i always start my designs with my trusty thesaurus... better know as Thesaurus.com.  this helps me comprise a list of words to start the conceptual juices flowing in my noggin.  once i find strong words that represent the purpose behind [The Hatchery] this allows me to narrow down and visualize the direction in which i want my design to travel.  notice i said travel... because these words will lead me on a journey to where i will discover my final idea.

the list...

generate
*emerge
egress
stem
surface
dawn
*embark
activate
establish
lead
motivate
open
introduce
